About KKI DC
Faith, Culture,
and Community.
We are an Indonesian Catholic community serving the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area — gathered monthly in worship, fellowship, food, and friendship.
Our Vision
A home away from home for every Indonesian Catholic in the DMV.
We envision a community where every Indonesian Catholic in the Washington area finds belonging, grows in faith, and stays connected to their roots.
Our MISSION
Worship together. Serve one another. Welcome everyone.
Through monthly Mass in Indonesian, shared fellowship, and cultural celebration, we nurture a community that honors both our Catholic faith and Indonesian heritage.
Our STORY
Rooted in faith,
grown in community.
From a small gathering of families to a growing community across the DMV since
1980
KKI Washington DC was founded in 1980 by a small group of Indonesian Catholic families who had settled across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area and longed for a place to worship in their mother tongue.
What began as informal gatherings in living rooms grew into a monthly Mass celebrated in Indonesian — a rare and cherished tradition for the community. The name KKI — Komunitas Katolik Indonesia was adopted to reflect both the faith and the cultural identity at the heart of the community.
Today, KKI DC gathers every second Sunday at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, welcoming members old and new — from longtime residents to newly arrived Indonesians finding their footing in a new country.
